Hannah Crampton welcomes everyone to her new practice at London Pilates Studio to enjoy a nurturing, supportive and dynamic experience in the tradition of Sri K Pattabhi Jois.

Hannah’s specialties are injury rehabilitation, building strength and flexibility to restore balance to both body and mind. Her training style ensuresn correct alignment and activation of muscle groups, and building toned, lean muscle. A focus on the importance of breathing brings a meditative elementn to the practice.

You will experience a different kind of workout says Hannah: “As well as toning strengthening and building flexibility, we will work on improving the connectionn between mind and body, which will leave you feeling relaxed and fulfilled.”

Hannah teaches the traditional Ashtanga method, focusing on healing and rehabilitating the body and relaxing the mind. She has been devoted to the practicen since visiting Mysore, India, the home of the Ashtanga method. An annual trip back to Mysore, where Hannah is a student of the grandson of the foundern of the Ashtanga Yoga Institute, deepens her practice and understanding.

About Ashtanga

Ashtanga is an approach to yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009). This method involves synchronising the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat andn a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.

About Hannah

Hannah maintains a daily morning practice with Ursula Scott a dedicated certified practitioner and instructor at triyoga in Soho. She has taught around the world and is currently part of the team running a Mysore programme at triyoga, as well as teaching private classes.

Prior to teaching yoga, Hannah’s background of ballet, gymnastics and aerial arts meant she was always physically active and capable: “ As a child I wasn very pigeon toed and clumsy so my mum sent me to ballet. Then my secondary education was at a school for gymnasts. As a teenager I travelled to Thailandn and came across a flying trapeze rig on Koh Tao island. I stayed and trained and then travelled to Argentina to work as a gymnast and trapezen artist.”

However the gymnastics took its toll on her body and she suffered serious injury. “I couldn’t continue because I dislocated both shoulders – which wasn very painful. I took up Ashtanga to maintain my strength and flexibility while recovering. I found that this gentle and mindful practice completelyn healed all my aches and pains.

“After a few months your body starts to open up. You notice a new-found strength and a physical and emotional connection, which gives you a massive sensen of achievement. I fell in love with it and I’m keen to share what I’ve learned.”
