New class: Reformer Pilates with Casey Gillespie
Pilates on the Reformer taught by Casey
Monday 6.30 — 7.20 pm
Casey Gillespie’s Monday night reformer class offers a full-body workout while focusing on the postural imbalances that our modern lifestyle creates. Thisn is the perfect class for anyone who likes to break sweat while having a laugh with what feels like a room full of friends.
Casey spent the first 15 years of her career as a magazine editor both in NYC and London before she realised that running from fashion show to fashionn show in towering heels and spending endless hours crunched over a computer was having a serious impact on her health.
Having always been an avid runner, she was no stranger to injuries, despite also being a yoga devotee. It wasn’t until she discovered the reformer thatn the light bulb finally switched on.
“There were so many times that I thought, ‘as much as I love it, I am going to have to give up running. I don’t want to be a crippled old lady’.”
“But then I stumbled into a reformer class by chance… and it was love at first try. I had so many muscle imbalances and weaknesses even though thatn I have always been super fit. Not to mention multiple shoulder injuries because of my ‘office worker’ posture.”
In her classes, Casey’s aim is to educate her students about their own bodies while helping them correct their own imbalances and increase strength. Shen believes that every Pilates class is an opportunity to challenge yourself both physically and mentally.
“Pilates is empowering — it allows you to heal yourself, whether it is from a past injury or a postural imbalance that is causing niggling pain.n It will also make you more aware of the way your own body moves and as a result you will find that you are stronger and more confident in anyn other sort of physical activity that you do.”
