All About Spines Forum

August 19, 2014

Back pain and back injuries have reached epidemic proportions so I was delighted to be asked to join Colin Natali’s select group of medical professionalsn for the recent All About Spines Forum held at The Lister Hospital. This event gave fellow professionals the chance to learn, network and exchange information.

Mr Natali is a renowned consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who is fellowship trainedn in Spinal Surgery. His practice is the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the Neck, Thoracic and Lumbar Spine and he is the Medical Directorn of a Rehabilitation Clinic.

The Forum gave me an opportunity to meet with physiotherapists,n chiropractors, osteopaths, radiologists and doctors, and listen to Mr Natali’s opinions about healthcare in the NHS and the private sector. He feelsn passionately that clinical Pilates should have an established position in the healthcare system as a preventative and after care method of treatment.

We all have a part to play in the well being of spines and the patient needs the complete team of professionals in order to make a full recovery from both minor and problematic spinal issues.

At the Forum I gained an insight into complicated and unusual patient case studies. Many of these could easily have been misdiagnosed if MRI scansn had not been taken, and if medical professionals had not had the experience and knowledge to see what other less well qualified physicians may haven missed.

All About Spines is a spinal service at The Lister Hospital,n combining all the disciplines needed to treat the full range of spinal conditions – including cancer.
