Target stubborn cellulite with Pilates
Women of all shapes and ages can fall prey to those pesky bumps.
Cellulite doesn’t discriminate on the basis of age or size but there is a way to get rid of it. Busy young mum Valerie Moreau has twon small children and a job as a financial analyst. She put her faith in Vanessa Pearce, owner and lead instructor of London Pilates Studio in Chiswick,n to help with sciatica and sacroiliac pain, after a recommendation by Louise Jewers,n physiotherapist at The Hogarth Clinic.
An unexpected bonus of the Pilates programme is that her cellulite has improved significantly. Bumpy thighs and hips are almost history!
Valerie started learning the basics with some one-to-one sessions. She then followed up with a programme designed by Vanessa to strengthen her core and improve her posture to alleviate the pain by takingn the strain off her back. “I could hardly walk without pain when I first came to Pilates and now that seems a distant memory.
“I also noticed after three months that my thighs looked smoother which was a nice surprise as I thought cellulite was something that you have to live with.”
What is cellulite?
Cellulite is simply old-fashioned fat! It just looks different because of how it’s arranged. Everyone has strands of connective tissue that separate fatn cells into compartments and connect fat to skin. In women, these fibres form a honeycomb-shaped pattern, so any increase of fat tends to bulge outn like stuffing in a mattress.
You see less cellulite in men because their fibres run horizontally, forming a criss-cross pattern that prevents dimpling. By burning more calories thann you consume, you will lose fat all over, including the dimpling on your hips, thighs and buttocks. With the right exercise plan, you too can reducen your cellulite.
Banish cellulite with Reformer and Cardio Tramp classes
The trick is working all your lower body muscles from every angle, reducing the underlying fat stores and replacing lost muscle tissue. This amazing machinen gives you a total body workout without needed to go to the gym. Valerie soon found that coming to Reformer classes twice a week has changed her body.n “Anyone can pick it up quite easily. I would recommend it for people with back pain who cannot do other types of exercise.”
You can even get a cardiovascular workout with the Cardio Tramp, a little trampoline placed at the end of the Reformer which you jump off whilst lyingn down. Valerie noticed fast results – within a month – and by three months her body had changed. “I was not exercising at all before because I didn’tn have the time. Since I switched priorities to take a little more care of myself, I have more energy for everything else.”
Nine months on, she comes twice a week to Reformer classes to maintain hern new physique and continue improving posture and muscle tone.
