Omni-wheel is a great new workout accessory

April 18, 2012

I just thought I’d share this fantastic new idea with you. It’s not yet available but I’m on the case and will be getting hold of some as soon as I can. It’s called the Torq-King omni-wheel and it is a nifty little piece of kit that allows functional movement around a 360° range of motion and gives a full body strength and aerobic workout.

The omni-wheel needs no setting up and can be used anywhere – home, office, studio or gym. The best thing about it is that I can see so much potential for incorporating it into Pilates classes for clients at all levels of fitness:

  • You adjust your body position to determine how challenging the movements are and your workout can be adapted to suit your strength and fitness level.
  • The range of movement adds balance and can target sports specific muscles and actions.
  • Use as a stand-alone workout or use it to intensify your existing workout and build your core strength and stability.

I’ll be working on routines to combine Torq-King with Pilates. A big bonus is that it can be used for active transitioning between exercises. This means you can use the wheel to roll and slide from one movement to the next to maximise the intensity of your workout and make the most of your time and effort.

Functional strength, fitness, conditioning and flexibility – and lots of fun as well. What’s not to like?
